I WISH I WERE A BIRD

Judy Montgomery

I wish I were a bird

With great and mighty wings

I’d fly to some far distant land

So that I could think of other things

I’d fly so high, way up high

Above the tallest trees

My cares and worries left behind

I’d float along with the soft warm breeze

I’d eat berries from the sweetest vines

Sing fine melodies in perfect tune

All my friends would be my choir

Each day would be like a day in June

How I wish I could fly away

And play and frolic in the air

I’d twirl and dance and sing all day

And never have another care

The clouds would be my pillow

The sun’s rays would point my way

I’d fly so far, so very far

To a warmer kinder day
